Spelling
Spelling Patterns of the Week:
ea /short e/ and y /short i/
Please check your child's agenda for a list of sample words with these patterns. It is important to remember that Haledon Public School implements the Orton Gillingham Methodology and strategies for teaching Reading. This program includes the critical literacy components of phonemic awareness, decoding, spelling, fluency, vocabulary building, and reading comprehension, which will be achieved through differentiated instructional techniques that are multisensory, phonics based, systematic, structured, and sequential. Students will not be supplied with a list of words to memorize for the test. Instead they will learn the skills to apply the spelling pattern as thy spell.
